Holiday is a west Pasco community built for everyday life, tucked between Tarpon Springs and New Port Richey along US-19 and Alternate US-19. The neighborhoods here, Beacon Square, Aloha Gardens, Colonial Hills, and dozens of 55-plus and manufactured-home communities, took shape mostly in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. That means a lot of concrete-block ranches with the same problem: a small kitchen walled off from the rest of the house, built for an era when the cook worked alone.

A kitchen in a near-Gulf home in Gulf Trace or Key Vista is a completely different job than a kitchen in a 1960s concrete-block ranch in Beacon Square or a home in a 55-plus community off Mile Stretch Drive. The near-Gulf homes bring coastal humidity and flood-zone considerations. The block ranches often need slab plumbing reroutes and updated wiring.
